Who is responsible

Sleep Dental (sleep-dental.com.au) is an education website published on behalf of Dr Walid Aly, Specialist Anaesthetist, and managed by Altitude Creative. In this policy, “we” means the people responsible for the website and for responding to enquiries made through it. This policy covers information collected through this website and through phone calls or emails made using the contact details shown here.

Information you send us

General enquiry form: your name, email address, an optional phone number, the kind of enquiry and your message.

Practice booking enquiry form: the practice name and suburb, a contact person, their email and phone number, the preferred days or dates, the setting, the expected number of patients and optional notes about the session. The form is for practice information only and must never contain patient details.

Please keep medical information out of both forms. If you include it anyway, we treat it as sensitive health information under this policy and will arrange a more appropriate way to discuss it.

Information collected automatically

The web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, date and the pages requested, to keep the website running and to investigate misuse.

To filter spam, the contact page asks the server for a signed, short-lived token that records only the time it was issued. The server also keeps a short-term count of recent submissions, filed under a one-way hash of your IP address rather than the address itself. This count holds submission times only and is removed automatically within about an hour.

Visitor statistics

To see which information is useful and how people find the website, we use Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager. It records the pages opened, the website or search that led there, the device and browser used and an approximate area (such as a city), and it notes when the contact form has been sent.

To recognise return visits, it stores a random ID in two cookies, _ga and _ga_ plus a code, which last up to two years. Google Analytics does not keep IP addresses and never sees what is written in the forms. We look only at totals. Google’s advertising features are switched off, so nothing is used for ads or remarketing. Google may hold this data overseas, including in the United States.

Your browser can switch this off: when it sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the analytics code is not loaded. Clearing or blocking cookies also works, as does Google’s opt-out add-on.

What this website does not do

  • It does not use advertising pixels, remarketing tags or social media trackers.
  • It sets no cookies other than the analytics cookies above.
  • It does not store your enquiry on the web server. The form sends it by email and keeps no copy.
  • It never asks for payment details.

How we use it

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, to discuss a session if you are a dental practice, and to keep the website secure. We do not use your details for marketing unless you have expressly agreed, and we never sell or rent personal information.

Who may see it

Your enquiry may be seen by Dr Aly and people who help him respond, who are bound by confidentiality, and by the email, hosting and IT providers that make the service work. The website is hosted on servers in North America, and some of these providers may store data outside Australia; we take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. We disclose information to others only with your consent or where the law requires or permits it.

Health information and patient care

This website is not used to provide care. If you later become Dr Aly’s patient, health information is collected and handled as part of that care, with your consent, and shared with other practitioners involved in your treatment only as the law allows. Patient referrals from dental practices are received through a secure channel agreed with the practice, not through this website.

Keeping it secure

The website is served only over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Enquiries go to a business email account. We keep personal information only as long as it is needed or the law requires. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Seeing or correcting your information

You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Use the contact page or phone 0411 965 272. We may need to confirm who you are before responding, and we aim to reply within 30 days.

Concerns and complaints

Please raise any privacy concern with us first. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or Victoria’s Health Complaints Commissioner.

Updates

This policy may change. The date shown at the top of the page is the date of the latest version.
